Recently, I made the long drive to Cheyenne, WY (14 hours!). Before I left I researched some places I might be able to have dinner. The Wyoming Rib & Chop House sounded perfect. It took me a couple of days to get there, but I wasn’t let down.
The restaurant is located in downtown Cheyenne, and has some tricky parking in their lot, so allow time to find a space.
First, and probably MOST important – Make a reservation!! Wednesday was the day I chose to go, and it was PACKED! People just walking in at 6pm were told they’d have to wait over an hour. As usual, I decided to try the bar area and it was super crowded there as well. There were a couple of guys standing by one chair, and I appealed to their sense of doing the right thing, and they let me sit. 😉 It was the only chair left.
The clientele seemed to be a mixture of locals and business professionals. The Wyoming Rib & Chop house has an excellent reputation, so I did meet other out-of-towners who were trying it out as well.
As satisfying my restricted diet, they did very well! I ordered a filet, which is served with drawn (real) butter and parsley. My bartender/server, Rowdy, was very attentive and even ran back to make sure the cooks made my dinner correctly. The dinner comes with a side and a salad, so I ordered Romaine lettuce with blue cheese crumbles along with olive oil and vinegar. As usual, I couldn’t have most of the sides, but Rowdy suggested green beans sauteed with butter, salt & pepper, which worked well.
For those who are daring, they even had frog legs! No, I wasn’t going near that one! hehe
If you ever get to Cheyenne, you MUST check this place out! It was the best restaurant I experienced during my week stay. I visited them twice and loved it both times.
