Review – Roxy in Eldorado, Reno, NV

2015-04-13 15.52.27Another restaurant you should DEFINITELY check out in Reno is Roxy.  Located inside the Eldorado Casino/Hotel, this restaurant far exceeded my expectations!  What a fabulous place!  Reservations are recommended because it’s quite popular.

Upon being greeted with a smile, the hostess found me a table quickly and had me seated.  Roxy is dimly lit, which is preferable to me since I’m old, and my wrinkles show less in low light.  😉  However, it does make it a tad difficult to read the menu.  Not a problem for me since I have a flashlight app on my phone.  (Always prepared!)  As always, I’d found a menu ahead of time to check out the fare before I arrived, so I had a sense of what was printed there.

Primarily a steak and seafood restaurant, Roxy also has a lounge area where a singer sings all your favorites while playing on a grand piano.  Roxy also has a sushi bar right outside the main restaurant area.  By the looks of it, this was also a popular place to eat.  The menu is quite extensive and gives you quite the variety to choose from.

They have a bread server that comes by to offer fresh breads with butter.  Although I couldn’t partake of the bread, the other servers were more than happy to fill my water glass and stop to chat with me.  Very friendly service!  The waiter that got “stuck” with me was Samuel.  He was SO patient!  He actually wanted a list of things I couldn’t eat (See the long list here!) and really worked with me to accommodate my restrictive diet.

What we finally decided on is pictured above.  Again, the lighting wasn’t ideal for photos, but I’ll describe it for you.  On top of a bed of sauteed spinach was a piece of perfectly grilled salmon, seasoned with salt and pepper.  With this wonderful presentation, they brought me a sauce to go with it!  Normally, I stay far away, but the chef made it specially for me.  The sauce contained butter, white wine, lemon, diced tomatoes and chives.  Dinner was FANTASTIC!!!

Not only was dinner fantastic, their service was as well.  Although I lingered at the table long after the meal, the staff made no moves to try to hurry me up.  A total pleasant experience.  A MUST if you are in Reno!
