When I was in Folsom, CA recently, I had an opportunity to check out a few restaurants.  Habit Burger was one of these.  Rumor has it that it’s the fastest growing hamburger chain in the U.S.!   Consumer Reports tell us that this is the best tasting burger in America. The reason?  The burgers are made FRESH and to order!  Yes, you have to wait.  However, it’s not long, and the food is served steaming hot.  If you can wait for a crafted coffee beverage, you can wait at Habit Burger.  Fresh is best! As I am skeptical of most places, I wasn’t going to order anything at first, but my hunger pains and knowledge of no more food for a while, I relented.

That motto, in case you can’t read it, says “There’s no substitute for quality”, something I personally believe.  The burgers here are called Charburgers because they are cooked over a flaming grill, not a flat grill, which imparts some wonderful flavor into their meat.  Established in Santa Barbara in 1969, Habit Burgers have been slowly growing in popularity and now are all over California  (at least!).  They not only have burgers, they have beach-inspired recipes—like a fresh-grilled albacore sandwich made with line-caught tuna; a chicken sandwich topped with crisp bacon and velvety avocado; and crisp salads made to order.  What could I eat there?  I ordered a double Charburger patty, no seasonings or anything else that usually comes with a typical burger, with Swiss cheese.  The only cheeses available are American and Swiss. Normally, they serve it wrapped up in paper, similar to In-N-Out or the like.  For me, they put it in a container to go, and sent me off with a fork and knife with which to eat it.  Their customer service was great and they all seemed energetic and willing to work with my restricted diet.  Next time I go, I may add fresh avocado, but this was quite the tasty meal.  Habit Burger pleasantly surprised me.  Next time I’m in California, I’ll return.  Check them out yourself!  Habit Burger
