Review – Gregory’s Mesquite Grill

Gregory’s Mesquite Grill is located inside the Eureka Casino in Mesquite, Nevada.  Now, some of you may not be anywhere close to Las Vegas and may not care that Gregory’s caters to my dietary restrictions.  That’s fine.  🙂  However, I had to “re-work” their menu a bit, and maybe you can learn something from that, or maybe you just want to hear about some great people!  I’ll include pictures too! Mesquite is located about an hour north of Las Vegas (depending on how fast you drive! 😉 ) and is known for all it’s golf courses, spas, and cheap room rates.  A lot of Las Vegans go there for mini-vacations. One of the reasons I like Gregory’s is they have an early bird special everyday.  They open at 4pm, and the special runs for an hour to two hours, depending on the time of year.  It really is an amazing deal. EM_GregorysEarlyBirdMenu The “Gold Card” they refer to is just the casino’s slot play card, which is really easy to get, and you don’t HAVE to play slots to get it.  Heck, it saves you $5!  So, for $25, you get Soup or Salad, an entrée, glass of WINE, and a dessert. They also serve bread and butter to begin with and sorbet in between your starter and entrée, both of which are declined in my case, but you can see what a super deal this is! Normally, I sit at the bar since I’m by myself, and I like meeting people.  🙂  They are very friendly in Mesquite!  My two top guys are Joey and Gabino.  They treat me like a queen!  I’ve been there so much they know exactly what I’ll order – it’s fabulous!  20150220_185729 Since I don’t trust soups when I’m out (they usually contain corn starch or flour to thicken them), I go with the salad.  Salads should be safe, right?  Not necessarily.  Especially for me since I have a BAD reaction to iceberg lettuce.  So, I order Romaine lettuce with Parmesan cheese, with oil and vinegar as dressing.  {side note – If you are soy sensitive, always ask what kind of oil they serve.  Many restaurants use an olive/canola blend which I can’t have} Gregory’s has olive oil, so I’m good there.  *UPDATE – Here’s an article I just read about “fake olive oils” being sold in the U.S. Check it out! http://cdn.eatlocalgrown.com/10-fake-olive-oil.html 20150220_170131 (I apologize for the non-fabulous photos as I failed to bring my good camera! 😦 ) For my entrée, I choose the NY steak with mushroom risotto.  Now, I can’t have the mushroom risotto of course, so I ask to leave that off, and just add some steamed veggies.  *When you order meat from any restaurant, always double check to see if they marinate it.  Most places will marinate chicken breasts, so I generally order steak.  My NY steak comes “medium, just salt and pepper”.  Gregory’s also has a sauce they plate the steak with, which I do without.  Here’s how my plate looks: 20150220_171749 (It looks better in person!  😉 ) My diet has me restricted to dry white wine, so I have Pinot Grigio, and they pour well at Gregory’s.  😀 It’s a lot of food for the price you pay, and the atmosphere is super. As for dessert, obviously I can’t eat it, but I usually offer it to a “neighbor” and they are always thrilled.  They vary their desserts, but from what I hear, they are are all terrific. Great company, great atmosphere, great food! -Gregory’s I’d love your feedback on this review.  Did I leave anything out you’d like me to review?  Because of my disease, one of the first places I check out is the restroom, so I’ll review those if they have them.  hehe  Gregory’s doesn’t have its own restroom since it’s in the casino, so no review to do here!  If you ever find yourself in Mesquite, try them out!  Tell Joey I sent ya! 🙂 Here’s the link to the Eureka Casino: http://www.eurekamesquite.com/
